The organ is a 35-rank, three-manual Mohler, built in 1947. The console was rebuilt about twenty-five years ago. It has been consistently maintained.
The primary duty is playing for Sunday services. Besides the prelude and postlude, the organist would generally play three hymns and a response after the benediction.
At present, the choir is small and sings two or three times a month but directing the choir at this time would not be a required duty. We could discuss that aspect of the position with an applicant who is interested. The only hours that are needed for an organist who is not directing the choir are 9:30 AM until about noon on Sundays.
At present, we give substitute organists an honorarium of $150 per Sunday and pay for travel expenses, should he or she live some distance from Danville. That amount can be adjusted with the approval of the Finance Committee.
